Siesta Key Transportation and Parking

Want to know how to get around, onto, and off Siesta Key? Key Solutions Real Estate, your Siesta Key, Florida real estate resource, provides an overview of Siesta Key transportation and parking — read on to learn more about the area’s public transit system and other transportation options.

Siesta Key is a barrier island that’s connected to Sarasota and the mainland by two bridges, the North Bridge and the South Bridge, making it very easily accessible. You can make the crossing by boat or ferry as well, through which you can also access other nearby areas such as Longboat Key. The nearest airport is the Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport.

Public transit on Siesta Key is managed by Sarasota County Area Transit (SCAT), which offers daily bus service (Route 11) from 5 a.m. to midnight except on major holidays. SCAT’s fleet also offers a pedal and ride service, though currently there’s only space for two standard-sized bikes per bus. For those who cannot use the bus service due to disability, there’s the paratransit SCAT Plus Service, which offers pick-up and drop-off service.

You can also go around the island and the beaches on your bike as there are quite a few bike lanes. It’s best to go biking early, however, as traffic can build up later in the day. As for parking, it can get tricky near the beaches, but both Turtle and Siesta Key beaches have free parking lots.
